Estas son dos de mis joyitas mejor guardadas. Después del NOMADA MARKET, en el que tanto éxito tuvieron a pesar de no hacer suficiente calor para que la gente se lo viera puesto, me han quedado algunas unidades en naranja y verde. Recuerdo vérselo a una chica con una camiseta de los 80's debajo, y la mezcla era realmente impresionante...

These are two of my dearest gems. After spring edition of NOMADA MARKET, in which they were so successfull despite the fact that they were actually not in the correct season (it was to cold to even imagine wearing them), I have some units left in orange and green. I remember seeing this cute girl wearing it with an 80's t-shirt underneath and the mixture was amazing...

Así de jovial y fresca posaba Sonia Ofelia Santos en esta sesión para Vintage Avocado. Aunque las fotos están sacadas en Madrid, ¿no nos hacen fantasear con una Sicilia dorada y cálida? Siracusa, Agriento, Acireale, Palermo...

El vestido, de los 70's es de Vintage Avocado, actualmente en venta, lo podréis encontrar hasta mañana domingo a las 20.00 en mi stand en Nomada Market, Calle Atocha 24, Madrid.

Las alpargatas, de Cornejo sastrería teatral, son el calzado que yo misma llevo para mi personaje en El Balcón, actualmente en cartelera en Matadero Madrid, hasta el 9 de Mayo.

La cesta de frutas, regalo de mi querido novio, por nuestro 4º aniversario juntos cumplido el 1 de abril, ¡ahí es nada!

The dress she's wearing, from the 70's, by Vintage Avocado, is on sale until tomorrow night 20.00 pm local time in my stand at Nomada Market, Calle Atocha 24, Madrid.

The espadrilles by Cornejo Stage Taylors, are the shoes I'm actually wearing as part of my character's wardrobe at El Balcon, currently on stage at Matadero, Madrid.

The fruit basket is a present from my beloved boyfriend for our 4th Anniversary as a couple, that's time together indeed!

Este fin de semana, 9, 10 y 11 de abril, vuelve NOMADA MARKET a la Calle Atocha 24 en Madrid. Os dejo el vínculo para que le echéis un ojo a la página, y algunas fotos de eventos anteriores en el mismo espacio. La entrada costará un euro, pero seguro que lo amortizáis, porque patrocina MAHOU LIGHT con cerveza gratis para todos. Estaremos abiertos de 12 a 22 h, y mi puesto lo podréis encontrar en la primera planta, junto a la puerta, no tiene pérdida!!

Para mi está siendo un verdadero reto, ya que mañana estrenamos EL BALCÓN de Jean Genet, en Matadero Madrid, dirigida por Ángel Facio, en el que hago un pequeño personaje, y tendré que estar pluriempleada: con el puesto por las mañanas y actuando por las tardes, así que será mi hermana Cecilia la que os podrá atender en mis horas de funciones.

It's going to be a challenge for me, as we open tomorrow night with the play "EL BALCÓN" (THE BALCONY) by Jean Genet, directed by Ángel Facio, in which I have a small rol as an actress, so I'll have to work double shift: mornings at the fair, evenings at the Theatre in Matadero Madrid, so my dear sister Cecilia will be able to help you at the shop while I perform

VINTAGE AVOCADO EN MATADERO MADRID

En el último mes apenas he actualizado el blog. Estoy ensayando como actriz una función de teatro, "El Balcón" de Jean Genet, dirección Ángel Facio, en Matadero Madrid. Las largas horas de espera y ensayos a penas me dejan tiempo.

Matadero Madrid es un espacio industrial, el antiguo Matadero de Reses de Madrid, reconvertido en Espacio para la Cultura. En las fotos, mi modelo Mahue Andúgar, una de las actrices del espectáculo, que da vida a Arlette, y una de mis inseparables compañeras de camerino, posa con pichi de flores de los años 70's, de mi tienda en Etsy, VINTAGE AVOCADO(próximamente a la venta), camiseta de ZARA y sus propios botines.

En la última foto, con su chico, Fernando Ruiz, también actor en la función.

I've barely updated this blog in the last month. I'm involved as an actress in the theatre production Jean Genet's "The Balcony", directed by Angel Facio in Matadero Madrid. the long waiting and rehearsing hours don't leave me much free time. Matadero Madrid is an old industrial building, the old Slaughterhouse, which has been recovered and reconverted as a space for culture. In these pictures, my model Mahue Andúgar, one of the actresses, who embodies Arlette, and one of my inseparable dressing room mates, poses with a vintage 70's overall skirt from my online Esty store, VINTAGE AVOCADO (on sale soon), ZARA top and her own ankle booties.

In the last picture, with her boyfriend, Fernando Ruiz, also an actor in the play.

Terciopelo

El terciopelo posiblemente se originó en la región de Kashmir, en India y se suele relacionar con la legendaria ruta de la Seda. Por la suavidad, riqueza y profi¡undidad de colores que permitía mostrar, fue un tejido siempre asociado a la corte, la corona y el poder. Se utilizaba para cubrir paredes en tapices y cortinas, y también en la vestimenta. Los tejidos más valorados en la edad media eran los terciopelos italianos. El rey Ricardo II de Inglaterra dejó por escrito en su testamento en 1399 que debía ser amortajado completamente en terciopelo.

Velvet was probably originated in the region of Kashmir, India, and it's usually associated with the Legendary Silk Route. Due to its softness, richness and depth in colour, this textile has always been associated to court, crown and power. Originally, it was used tocover walls in tapestries and courtains, and also in gowns and garments. Italian velvets were the most valued textiles of the Middle Ages. King Richard II of England's will made clear that he intended to be buried with his body fully covered in velvet.

El terciopelo hoy es un tejido actualizado y de moda, suntuoso y combinable con todo tipo de prendas.

Esta chaqueta de terciopelo negro cae exáctamente a la altura de la cintura, es perfecta para combinar con vaqueros rotos, camiseta blanca...aunque hay mil posibilidades más.

Aparte del tejido, lo que más me gusta es el cuello, redondo, y que no tenga ningún botón, esto refuerza la pulcritud del corte, perféctamente recto.

Velvet is an updated and fashionable material nowadays. Rich yet perfectly able to combine with all sort of garments.

This black velvet jacket sits exactly on the waist, and its perfect to combine with jeans, a white top. Although there are a thousand possibilities, of course.

Apart from the material, my two favorite features are the neckline and the fact that it doesn't have any buttons, which reinforces the purity of the cut, perfectly straight.

Parece que este año vamos a tener invierno para rato!

Por esa razón, aunque a algunas soñadoras nos gustaría vernos ya con los vestidos primaverales, todavía estamos a tiempo de sacar a relucir prendas calentitas y realmente inusuales como esta!

Recién subida a mi tienda ON-LINE, es una parka de los 70 que a nadie dejará indiferente. Timidas abstenerse.

Aparently, this year we are having a never-ending winter!

For this reason, and although some dreamers like myself would like to see ourselves in cute little spring dresses, we are still in time to wear some garments like this unusual and really warm coat. I've just listed it in my ONLINE store and it's a 70's statement parka that DOES make the difference. To be avoided by dull and shy.

FLEECE LINEN

Estas dos cazadoras me recuerdan irremediablemente a mi infancia, los bocadillos de nocilla, el autobús escolar en el que viajábamos, amontonados, 4 niños por asiento, los cabás de cartón de la pantera rosa o bugs bunny, las botas de agua, jugar a saltar charcos...

Y es que sí, ambas son diseños originales de los años 80's, década en la que transcurrió mi infancia, exterior de polyester acolchadito y mullido, cremallera a tono y algo que hace tiempo que no encuentro en ninguna prenda parecida actual: ese fantástico y calentito forro de borreguillo, perfecto para los días de invierno hummmmmm!

These two jackets inevitably lead me to my childhood, nutella sandwiches, school bus with 4 childern per sit, cardboard schoolcases with the pink panter or bugs bunny, wellies, splashing puddles...

Yes, both or them are original designs from the 80's, in which I lived most of my childhool: polyester padded and soft outshell, matching zipper and something I haven't found in a while in any of current garments: a fantastic and warm fleece linen, so perfect and cozy for winter days, hmmmmmm!!!

VESTUARIO DE LA SERIE "AMAR EN TIEMPOS REVUELTOS"

Dentro de los blogs y webs dedicados al VINTAGE, la mayoría de procedencia americana, he encontrado muchas referencias al vestuario de la serie norteamericana MAD MEN, situada en una empresa de publicidad del Nueva York de los años 60's.

Por esa razón, y aunque no es mi intención trazar ningún tipo de comparación, querría hacer una mención a la serie española AMAR EN TIEMPOSREVUELTOS, situada en la España de los 50's que sin contar con un presupuesto tan elevado, y con una frecuencia de emisión diaria, cuenta con un equipo de vestuario digno de atención, por su erudición en historia de la moda.

En esta serie no buscan el realismo absoluto. En la gris España de los años 50', no era habitual que la gente, especialmente las mujeres, vistieran con una gama de colores muy amplia. La sobriedad del catolicismo fascista, el luto por los miles de familiares muertos en la Guerra Civil, sumado a la carestía de género, no facilitaron una paleta indumentaria demasiado variada

, ni muchas opciones de estampados y fantasías.

Sin embargo, tratándose de una serie de ficción, se necesita sorprender al espectador con cambios de estilo, complementos, tocados y joyas más propias de una serie situada en algún país próspero en aquella época.

Among VINTAGE BLOGS, most of American procedence, I've found many references to North American show MAD MEN, placed at a 60's New York advertisement company.

Although I have no intention to make any sort of comparison, I'd like to mention Spanish show AMAR EN TIEMPOS REVUELTOS, daily emission, which takes place in Madrid in the 1950's. Without having such a high wardrove budget, it is conducted by a well-learned wardrove team, who deserved to be paid attention to.

This deparment is not absolutelly realistic. Dull 50's Spain, especially women of that time, didn't count on a very interesting wardrove palette. Catholic fascism sobriety, the memory of thousands of dead relatives and friends from the Spanish Civil war (1936-1939) as well as the pattent lack of materials and utter poverty, didn't leave many options for fantasy or colour.

However, a daily fiction show, there is a need to surprise the audience with style changes, colour, accesories and jewelry, more appropiate for a well-to-do country than from sad Spain in those days.

I'd like to show you some images from the show, as well as a link to an interview to the Wardrove director of the series.

He hablado ya de la feria NOMADA MARKET un par de veces, pero hoy, actualizando algunas fotos me he encontrado esta, de la que no me acordaba. En ella llevo un vestido de mi marca, VINTAGE AVOCADO, de los años 70's y a la venta (aunque aún no he subido fotos a la tienda) junto con un sombrero de los 80's y un corsé confeccionado por Penélope Almendros, de su marca REVUE VINTAGE. Penélope diseña, confecciona y cose la ropa de sus colecciones, en las que hay influencias diversas, desde la era victoriana al gótico pasando por los poetas románticos ingleses Shelley y Byron Los tejidos con los que trabaja son MARAVILLOSOS, y sin duda, la joya de la corona de sus creaciones son sus corsés. Maravillosos, arquitectónicos, muy bien armados e insultantemente favorecedores encima de cualquier otra prenda, desde un vestido vintage, como es el caso, hasta con vaqueros y camiseta. I've talked several times about NOMADA MARKET, but today, will I was updating some pictures I came across this one I had forgotten. In it, I'm wearing one of my VINTAGE DRESSES, from the 70's, that is currently on sale (Although I haven't uploaded the picutes to my shop yet) a hat from the 80's and a Penélope Almendros corset, from her label REVUE VINTAGE. Penélope designs, makes and sews all the clothing in her collections, with random influences, from Victorianism to Shelley and Byron, from Romanticism to Neo-Gothic. The textiles of her collections are just a dream came true, but the pearl of her collections are definitelly her corsets. Architectural, well constructed and insultingly flattering on almost anything: from a vintage dress, to jeans and a t-shirt. Tras el paso de las Navidades, y de todo el follón, compromisos, cenas y fiestas que suponen, (incluso blogueramente hay una necesidad de mencionarlas para estar al día) decido que no subí suficientes imágenes del NOMADA MARKET que se celebró en la calle Atocha de Madrid del 16 al 20 de diciembre. Ciertamente, siendo mi primera feria, estaba desmasiado ocupada con etiquetas, precios, decoración, etc, como para hacer demasiadas fotos, así que apenas tomé y ahora me arrepiento. Sin embargo, no quiero dejar pasar dos que me gustan especialmente, y que resumen algunos de los sabores y vivencias que tuve allí.

After Christmas hectic days, dinnerparties, commitments, etc that they carry on (even in the blogosphere, everyone feels they need to be mentioned) I've decided I din't uploaded enough pictures from NOMADA MARKET, that took place in C/Atocha, Madrid, 16th-20th Dec. Since it was my first fair, I was too busy with labels, prices, decor, etc to take enough pictures, so I barely took any and now I regret it. Nonetheless, I need to mention a couple of them I specially like, because they summarize some of the flavours and experiences I lived there.

Por un lado, aunque la foto desde luego no le hace justicia, necesito mencionar la fantástica performance de body painting y danza de los chicos de Baby-Jane. Su puesto estaba enfrente del mío, y esta es la bailarina posando frente a la burra del puesto después del show.

Fistly, despite the picture is not good enough, I need to mention the fantastic body-painting and ballet performance from Baby-Jane. Their stand was opposite to mine, the ballerina is posing here after the show in front of their stand.

Lucía y su firma LUCETEMÁS, estaban al lado de mi puesto, y no pude evitar la tentación de provarme algunas de sus prendas: delicadas, femeninas, originalísimas... Lucía, además de diseñadora de moda, tiene formación y trayectoria como decoradora. De alguna manera esta escuela se demuestra en la elección de sus tejidos y apliques en camisetas y vestidos, que recuerdan y descontextualizan las ricas tapicerías tradicionales. En la foto, a la izquierda Lucía con uno de sus vestidos estrella, en el que se aprecia esa reminiscencia tapicera, y yo misma con una de sus túnicas negras con apliques en cintura y hombro.

Lucía and her label LUCETEMÁS were next to my stand, so I had to indulge and try on some of her creations: delicate, femenine and utterly original...Lucía, as well as a fashion designer has a former training and work experience as interior designer. In some way, this is shown in the choosing of her textiles and decorations, that remind of and decontextualize rich tradicional tapestry making. In the picture, on the left, Lucía is wearing one of her best-selling dresses, with this tapestry reminiscence, and me, wearing one of her black tunics with appliqué on the shoulders and waist.

Desde el pasado 16 hasta ayer 20 he estado con un stand de VINTAGE AVOCADO en el NOMADA SUPERMARKET especial edición Navidad. Han sido muchas las personas que han pasado por aquí. He conocido a gente maravillosa, de gran creatividad, a la que me gustaría dedicar otro post.

De momento os dejo una selección de fotos sacadas desde mi móvil de algunas de las personas que han pasado por mi puesto y se han probado prendas de VINTAGE AVOCADO.

From last Dec 16th I've been running a stand from VINTAGE AVOCADO in NOMADA SUPERMARKET, Chistmas Edition. There has been a real crowd of wonderful people who have visited us. I've met wonderful people, beautiful creative talents to whom I'd like to dedicate a post soon.

Contar con Cecilia en la feria ha sido una bendición. No solo me ha ayudado con el puesto cuando tenía que ir a comer o necesitaba airearme un poco, sino que además es la modelo perfecta, ¡todo le queda bien! Aquí la vemos con un vestido años 70's, bolso de ante y broche, todo de VINTAGE AVOCADO y su propia boina.

Counting on Cecilia in this fair has been a real blessing. Not only she has helped me by taking care of the stand when I needed lunch or some fresh air, but also she's the ideal model. Everything fits her gorgeously! Here we can see it with a dress from the 70's, suede handbag and a brooch, all from VINTAGE AVOCADO and her own beret.

Algo inesperado ha pasado. He tenido que venirme a León, mi ciudad natal, por asuntos personales. He tenido que dejar Madrid estos días y por tanto el curso natural de cosas, no podré subir fotos en unos días, ni ir a mi clase de danza orienta en el Horno, ni al curso de Dramaturgia con Angel Facio.

Al menos, quería contar que estoy contenta porque estaré en NOMADA MARKET DEL 16 AL 20 DE DICIEMBRE EN LA CALLE ATOCHA 24, DE 12 A 22.

Mi puesto estará en la planta superior, a la derecha según se sube por la escalera del edificio, muy cerquita del bar...visitadme!!

Something unexpected just came up. I had to come to León, my hometown, for personal reasons. I have to leave Madrid for a few days and the natural course of events, I won't be able to upload pictures, I think, go to my oriental dance class in El Horno or to my Dramaturgy course by Angel FAcio.

At least, I wanted to say that I'm very excited because I WILL BE AT NOMADA MARKET, 16TH TO 20TH DECEMBER IN CALLE ATOCHA 24, 12-22H

My stand will be at the upper floor, on the right, just as you come up the stairs, very close to the BAR...No excuse not to visit me!!

UN POCO ALPES Y HEIDI?

Combinación de camiseta-chaleco (es una sola pieza, con mangas farol asomando como si fuera una blusa) + Falda VINTAGE AVOCADO, mi favorita, con la que inauguré este blog y que, de primeras, me costaría soltar...

La persona que me la regaló aún tenía esta falda, junto a un montón de prendas más que me donó procedente de sus años mozos en los 60-70s, bien guardad en algún baúl o trastero de su casa en el campo. Desde luego que la vida en un pueblo de León en los años 50-80 no debió ser nada fácil, posiblemente dejaría poco a la envidia. Pero sí añoro la relación cotidiana con el espacio y los objetos, el valor de lo duradero y permanente frente a lo desechable y temporal.

Por eso, para mi, el regalo tiene un valor incalculable. Porque estas prendas permanecieron durante décadas, buscando la ocasión o nueva oportunidad de uso, hasta que un buen día, pasaron de sus manos a las mías. Desinteresadamente. Por cariño. Por confianza. Por el simple deseo altruista de que yo las disfrutara.

Esta falda inspiró VINTAGE AVOCADO.

Claramente, esta temporada es de lunares. Mireia de My Daily Style ya escribió en su blog sobre las medias, hemos visto a la reina del VINTAGE Dita Von Tease llevar una camisa de transparencias a lunares...

Mi intención era añadir este top a la colección de mi tienda VINTAGE AVOCADO EN ETSY, así que le pedí a mi modelo (mi hermana Cecilia, por cierto) que posara para mi blog y tienda. Los resultados están muy bien, creo, solo que me pidió que le vendiera la camiseta...Obviamente no pude decir que no, después de que la interpretara tan maravillosamente...

Estas son algunas de las cosas que acabo de colgar a la tienda. Poco a poco voy poniéndome al día, aunque aún queda tanto por hacer...

Lo que más me gusta es el momento en el que estas prendas llegan a mi mano, después de mucho buscar dices...EUREKA! JUSTO LO QUE QUERÍA! y te entran hasta sudores fríos de la alegría de que ese tesoro haya caído en tus manos...

Esto es un anticipo de lo que tengo previsto subir a la tienda mañana o en estos días, vestidos y faldas de los 60's, 70's y 80's. Espero subirlas cuanto antes, pero entre corregir las fotos, tomar las medidas, describir las piezas...en fin, no me quiero quejar de vicio, me encanta manipular estas prendas, me lo paso taaaan bien...

¿Os result familiar este tipo de calzado? Nada más de moda y, como decían los griegos "nada nuevo bajo el sol..." Puede que a algunos todavía les choque las botas-sandalias, pero, como vemos aquí, no se trata de una prenda moderna, más bien todo lo contrario...

En la antigua grecia, las prendas de vestir se concebían como un ornamento que indicaba la distinción social. Las altas permanecían descalzos en las casas, los templos y en la palestra. Sin embargo, permanecer descalzo en la calle era propio de esclavos o clases bajas así que se ornamentaban con variados tipos de calzado, muestra de ello las imágenes. El cuerpo, al contrario que en la cultura cristiana, debía permanecer lo menos tapado posible. De ahí la predilección por este tipo de bota-sandalia con los dedos al aire.

La primera imagen muetra al Hermes en Reposo, de Lisipo (aprox 330 ac) al que vemos luciendo un calzado alado, por algo era el dios olímpico de las fronteras y los caminos...
